Still Around

I thought I'd better explain why I've been so quiet lately.

Our business has been extremely busy and taking most of our time and the little spare time I've had I've concentrated on the Perth Atheists.

Another disconcerting issue is my health. I've had an almost constant headache for the last 2 and a bit months and an amazing condition called ophthalmic migraine which causes the strangest visual effects. My doctor has managed to control my blood pressure the major reason for my headaches and they are slowly becoming a thing of the past and the brain fog is lifting. Yay!

My sedentary lifestyle is obviously an issue as I never exercise. In fact going to work involves walking down stairs and sitting at a bench all day and then walking upstairs again 10 hours later. We just ordered a Crosstrainer workout machine so hopefully I can force myself to spend an hour a day on that. I'm sure Thump will push me onto it... I guess it's time to stop the smoking and drinking as well... bugga

As most of you all know we had Fiery stay here for two weeks which was a lot of fun even though we were working most of the time. It was unfortunate I was in the middle of massive headaches while she was here and it took a while for her to understand why I was so grumpy in the mornings but I think she enjoyed her stay. We certainly enjoyed the time with our adopted sister and miss her deeply. Jake still likes to lie on her bed and Thump's son calls it Fiery's bedroom :)

All in all things are brightening up. Thanks for stopping by and I'll attempt to get back into posting, even if it's just the odd pisstake I find.

I suffer from a different style migraine than you do, but I feel your pain. I think mine are more allergy and sleep related. Doesn't make it any better, however.

Migraine is aweful. I remember as a kid I would get them lasting for 3 and 4 days and have to be in a dark quite place with a bucket!

Thanks for stopping by Joe.

Good to see you back! I hope you get feeling a lot better.

I used to get a ton of migraines, then I had my uterus removed and they are all better now...maybe you could give that a try? :-P

Thanks Poodles... I will check with my doctor and see what he thinks ;-)

What is happening in the atheist community lately? So many of us seem to have some personal or physical problems holding us back from blogging?

Sorry to hear about your headaches, glad to hear they are clearing up.

You should take up walking, I have just started to. In the past few years I was lucky to go for a 30 min walk about once every two months. Now I'm exercising every day 30 - 60 min, and I'm entering into a 10.5km Fun Walk at the end of August. It's good to have a goal. Though I'm not sure if this old body can keep up the pace after the I reach that goal.

Hi Oz. Thanks for checking in. My doc gave me a 98% chance of having a stroke or heartattack :-O

I have my bloodpressure down to almost normal now and have been on the crosstrainer each day. I am very unfit and it is a painful process. I can nearly do 10mins on it :) Headaches are slowly going away and hopefully the brain fog will lift soon. Are we a similar age? I'm 52, but unfortunately my mind thinks I'm 20 still.

Oi Protium, get a mountain-bike mate. It's a fantastic activity to get fit and signing-up for an event gives you a challenge to aim for. Regarding the booze, don't drink every day. That's unhealthy. Say two days off one day on. Give the smokes a miss - killed my old man. And by the way I've started an Atheist Music Blog {link appreciated)
Cheers. Paul from your old home town.
